The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation announces its first signature grant of $750,000 to Sacred Heart Mission's J2SI program to fight chronic homelessness.
Sacred Heart Mission’s groundbreaking new homelessness initiative ‘Journey to Social Inclusion’ (J2SI) was launched today thanks to a signature grant of $750,000 from The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
J2SI will involve 40 long term unemployed participants and will aim to have them leave homelessness permanently.
The program will run for three years at a total cost of $3.6 million dollars and would not have been possible were it not for the Foundation’s signature grant.
“Homelessness is a key area of concern for the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation and in 2009 we will grant $1.5 million in two signature grants to address this issue,” said Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation CEO, Andrew Chappell.
“We were impressed with the detail and innovation in Sacred Heart Mission’s J2SI project and are proud to have played a part in getting this critical project off the ground,”
“Initiatives such as J2SI are a strategic and innovative way to tackle the issue of chronic homelessness and we wish Sacred Heart Mission all the best with the program,” he said.
The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation will grant more than $7 million through its Melbourne’s Road Home initiative over the next three years.
Remember a loved one and give to your community forever.
